Professional Installation: The Carpet Plus Guarantee

Beautiful new flooring can truly transform your home. However, improper installation can result in issues such as squeaks and moisture problems for hard surfaces, and wrinkles and fraying seams for carpet, ultimately requiring premature replacement. Simply put, proper installation is absolutely critical to the performance of your flooring.

At Carpet Plus, our nationally certified installers use advanced tools, technology, and processes to ensure that every floor we install not only looks beautiful but also lasts for many years to come. Keep reading to learn how we do it.

CARPET

Sealing with Glue Sticks

STIXX_glue Sticks.cdr

All cut carpet edges must be sealed prior to creating the carpet seams. Our installers use innovative glue sticks that are engineered to create a welded seam during the seaming process. Cut carpet edges that have been sealed with these glue sticks use the heat on the top portion of the hot-melt iron to reactivate the sealed edges and weld the two cut edges back together.

BENEFITS INCLUDE:

  • No hinging (also known as “seam peaking”)
  • No fraying of edges
  • Faster drying for less mess

Seaming Tool and System

Kool-glide(1)-1

If seaming is not done properly during the installation process, it can cause seams to split which can be a real eyesore. A common cause of this is using too hot of an iron or too much force to stretch the carpet together. We use a cutting-edge heatless carpet seaming tool that ensures a strong bond for the life of your carpet.

BENEFITS INCLUDE:

  • No smoke, odor, or VOC’s
  • No heat distortion
  • No dripping glue
  • No burning or damaging of carpet
  • No delamination of backing

Wrinkle-Free Technique

Wrinkling in carpet is not only unsightly, but it can also be a tripping hazard. Our installers use a combination of tools and technique that allows us to confidently guarantee that your carpet will remain wrinkle-free. First, we use a wider tack strip (known as “architectural”) than the industry standard. Because it’s wider, it has more pins and is able to have a better hold on the carpet. Second, we use a tool to power stretch the carpet (many installers simply use the “knee-kick” method) to ensure a smoother, tauter install.

BENEFITS INCLUDE:

  • Prevents wrinkling and buckling
  • Prevents damage to the carpet
  • Prevents delamination of secondary backing

Preparing Your Floor

Floor-Prep-Web

A new floor will not succeed without a properly prepared subfloor. We take into account the material, thickness, moisture level, and structural soundness of the existing subfloor so that we can take the appropriate measures to prepare it as needed. This could include patching, leveling, adding a vapor barrier, and more.

Taking these extra steps will help to minimize squeaks and contribute to the overall flatness and soundness of your new floor.

We also carefully follow any specific manufacturer instructions—including acclimation guidelines—to make sure your flooring remains covered under its warranty.

Laying Out Your Floor

Wood-Install-Web

We take extra care to lay out all of your boards ahead of time to ensure appropriate staggering of joints and adequate randomization of boards. We blend planks from different cartons to achieve a good balance of color and graining throughout the room so that the floor does not have a patterned appearance.

Adhesives

Using the wrong adhesive can cause a flooring failure. We use only quality adhesives and take many things into consideration to select the appropriate adhesive for your project, including where the job is taking place, what type of flooring is being installed, and what the substrate is.
