TIPS FROM TIM: Are All Flooring Installations Created Equal?
Are all flooring installations created equal? In a word, NO.
Having new flooring installed is an expensive part of building or remodeling your home. While saving money on labor costs may seem like a good idea at the time, those short term savings may result in long term headaches. Improper installation can result in premature replacement of your flooring, costing more in the long run. Wrinkles & fraying seams are unsightly in carpet & are directly related to installer error. Using incorrect adhesives or using the wrong amount of adhesive can cause vinyl, wood & ceramic flooring failures. I could go on.
When shopping for new floors, make sure to ask your sales associate these questions before having your floor installed:
- Do your installers follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions?
- Do they power-stretch & seal seams in the carpet as specified by the manufacturer?
- Do they acclimate materials and use proper adhesives & proper trowel sizes as specified?
- Do they use the latest technology & methods available to them?
- Do they attend regular training classes to learn these methods?
- Are you willing to give me a 3 year warranty on installation?
For Carpet Plus, the answer to all of these questions is YES. Our installers are treated like the professionals they are and it shows in their workmanship. Doing things “by the book” protects Carpet Plus & you, the consumer, in the event of flooring failure, 90% of which are related to installer error.
